Alex Gordon hit deep to center for a double and to score the first of two runs to creTe. 3-0 lead.

Jeremy Guthrie was the starting pitcher for the Royals against the Giants Tim Hudson and he pitched into the sixth inning, when Kelvin Herrera took over and retired the Giants before they closed the gap by a run.
