Weitz Co. Lands Share of $245 Million Project

Lenexa-based Weitz Co. has been chosen as design build partner for a new student housing project at Texas A&M University, work that accounts for $245 million of the  $360 million project. It’s the largest student-housing complex in the country to date, officials from Weitz said in a release announcing the selection.

The Park West complex will be home to more than 3,400 students in more than 1,300 units, from studios up to four-bedroom units, and the complex will cover nearly 1.8 million square feet of building space. In addition to housing, it will include swimming pools, hot tubs, fire pits, grills, outdoor restrooms, fitness centers and game rooms, as well as study and gathering spaces, retail and office space and an eight-story parking garage.

The project owner is NCCD-College Station, a non-profit, and the developer and manager of the finished project is Irving-based Servitas. PGAL of Boca Raton, Fla., will be the design partner with Weitz, which recently completed Oswald and Self residence halls for freshmen at the University of Kansas.
