Kessinger Hunter Ends Cushman Affiliation

Kessinger Hunter & Co., a commercial realty firm that is one of the oldest companies in Kansas City, announced today that it was ending its  affiliation with the national firm Cushman & Wakefield, effective immediately.

Privately held KH, which started in 1879, has operated independently for over 135 years, but had been a C&W Alliance Member for the past 12 years. The separation comes after the recent sale of Cushman & Wakefield to competitor DTZ.

“While we have enjoyed our relationship with Cushman Wakefield, the merger created an overlap in services,” KH chairman Chuck Hunter said in a news release announcing the change. “We decided it was in our best interests to remain independent. We very much wanted to be owned and operated by our shareholders and principals.”

Kessinger Hunter, which has clients worldwide, may cooperate with C&W outside of Kansas City, the release said.
