A Series Bet With Heart

It happens every World Series or Super Bowl: Mayors or governors get in on those cheesy “bets” over which city’s team will prevail on the field. You know: Things like KC barbecue against Napa Valley wine for the current World Series competitors. As publicity stunts go, they’re cheap—and easy.

But here’s one with some meaning attached: Children’s Mercy Hospital has aligned with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford to get fans in on the civic pride that comes from the Royals and San Francisco Giants in the World Series. Children’s Mercy, in a news release, called it a competition to see which fan base has the biggest hearts. They’re challenging fans to show their team spirit by making donations in their team’s honor to one of the hospitals.

Royals fans can do that on-line at www.crowdrise.com/bigleaguefan today through next Friday, Oct 31. Proceeds will go to the I Love Children’s Mercy Fund.
